Commander in Chief of Bolivia’s Armed Forces Visits Cuba.

CUBA, July 5, 2011.- Admiral Armando Pacheco, Commander in Chief of Bolivia’s Armed Forces is on an official visit to Havana with the purpose of strengthening bonds with the Cuban Armed Forces, Granma reported Tuesday. 

The Bolivian admiral, who is accompanied by a military delegation, arrived in Havana on Saturday and will remain in the island until July 9.

Admiral Armando Pacheco paid homage to Lieutenant General Antonio Maceo and his aid Captain Panchito Gomez Toro, at the Cacahual Mausoleum where the visiting delegation was officially welcomed by Major General Pedro Mendiondo Gomez, head of the Antiaircraft and Air Defense of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).

The distinguishing visitor places a floral wreath at the site where Maceo’s and Gomez Toro’s remains are kept and he learned details about their lives and heroic deeds.

Armando Pacheco told Granma that countries like Bolivia and Cuba are united by a long history and suggested that the two countries’ armed forces should strengthen exchange.

According to their program, the Bolivian Admiral and the delegation accompanying him will visit military units and higher military schools, as well as places of historical and cultural interest. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
