Brazil, Cuba Agree to Boost Scientific and Technological Projects.

By Alejandro Gómez
CUBA, March 9th, 2011.- Brazil and Cuba decided to boost bilateral cooperation projects in science, technology and innovation, Cuban Ambassador in Brasilia Carlos Zamora said Wednesday.

This was the main conclusion of a meeting last week with the Brazilian Minister of Science and Technology Aloizio Mercadante to evaluate the program of scientific and technological cooperation, Zamora said in remarks to Prensa Latina.

In particular, both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation projects in biotechnology, nanotechnology, renewable energy and human resources training, Zamora said.

These projects are in line with results of gatherings of ministers as part of the Third Meeting of the Working Group on Science, Technology and Innovation Brazil-Cuba, held in Havana in June 2010.

Zamora said that in 2002, with the signing of an understanding memorandum between the Ministries of Science and Technology of both countries, a Work Programme was established.

Results achieved in cooperation in these fields allow Cuba and Brazil to set higher goals, Cuban Ambassador said. (Cubaminrex-PL)
