George Lamming praises the Cuban Revolution

CUBA, May 11, 2011.- The important Barbados intellectual, George Lamming, described the Cuban Revolution as the most incredible one of the 20th century. Lamming said that Cuba has generated an incomparable cultural tradition and announced that next BIM magazine edition will be dedicated exclusively to the island. This edition will be launched in November and will focus on its science and contemporary arts, and in large scale on the cultural tradition before 1959. Some other themes that will be published are the current literary works, the presence and influence of Afro-Cubans, the work of writer Alejo Carpentier, Wifredo Lam’s artistic legacy, the role of women in the revolution and the development of the Cuban health system.
George Lamming is a novelist, critic and social commentator, and one of the essential writers of the region, who works toward the cultural emancipation and the integration of the Caribbean nations. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
