Launched in Barbados local version of the III Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase.

BARBADOS, May 19, 2011.- With the exhibition of "Woman" (Haitian Director Jean Jean), and produced by the International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños, took place this morning's press conference that launched the work of the III Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase in Barbados.

In the "Cinemateque" of the "Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination", University of the West Indies (Cavehill), was the meeting with the media, which was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the local chancery, Charles Burnett, the Head of UNICEF Office Tom Olson, the Barbadian filmmaker Allison Saunders and Counsellour of the Embassy of Cuba, Orestes Hernandez.

The Secretary Burnett thanked the university authorities for organizing this event, praised the clarity of the idea of the shows that began in Cuba and mentioned in his words that it is "a celebration of Caribbean and our diversity," and recalled "In the Caribbean we do not know among us as we should, and this cultural phenomenon is an important step in that direction."

For her part, the director Alisson Sounders, producer of "Hit for Six", the only barbadian film in the sample mentioned as still "our vision of the Caribbean is  extremely limited" and called for enhancing the strength of this sample has not only there but beyond our borders."

Sounders recognized the important role of the Cuban film authorities in the creation of this project, especially the commendable efforts of the Cuban filmmaker Rigoberto Lopez who leads of the office of the Exhibition. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Barbados)
