PM Winston Baldwin Admires Cuba's Revolutionary Spirit Cuba, 24 May 2011.- The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, Winston Baldwin Spencer, declared himself to be admired by the revolutionary spirit of the Cuban people, after paying tribute to National Hero Jose Marti. The way you honor your national hero sends a very strong message to the world with respect to Cuba's determination for independence and justice, the visitor told the press after placing a wreath by the monument to the apostle at the Memorial named after him located at the capital's Revolution Square. He pointed out that he hopes that his trip to Havana becomes an opportunity to strengthen and perfect the bonds existing between the island and the small Caribbean state, established on April 6, 1994. While answering a question about his view of the Bolivarian Alliance for The Americas (ALBA), -which his country is part of since June 24, 2009-, he considered it "the best opportunity for the hemisphere, with an agenda for the benefit of the peoples". Previously, accompanied by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, Baldwin Spencer visited the halls of the Memorial and received a detailed explanation on aspects of the life and struggles of Marti against the Spanish colonial dominion over his homeland. After his arrival in the Cuban capital on Sunday on an official visit, the former 63-year old trade union leader fulfills a program that includes official talks with President Raul Castro (held on Monday afternoon) and visits to places of interest.
