Cuban Educational Brigade in Jamaica against the U.S. Blockade

JAMAICA, October 31, 2011.  Last Tuesday, 25th October, on the occasion of the vote of the Cuban resolution against the U.S. blockade at the 66th session of UNGA, the Cuban Educational Brigade in Jamaica, joined the call made by organizations in that sister nation and issued a statement reiterating its rejection to that illegal and unjust measure imposed by U.S. for five decades.
The unabridged text of the declaration reads as follows:

“Statement by the Cuban Educational Brigade in Jamaica

“The continuation of the unjust and cruel blockade imposed by the Government of the United States against Cuba has led the Government of Cuba, to present, for its twentieth consecutive year, before the UN General Assembly (UNGA) a draft resolution on the need to put an end to such an unjust policy.

The blockade against our country, the longest ever imposed by the U.S. on another country, violates international law and has inflicted on Cuba an economic impact exceeding $ 975 billion U.S. dollars. Within the framework of the 66th UNGA, Cuba exposed all infamy and cruelty of such a policy and the result of the vote showed the fairness of our cause. This time, a very high number of votes in favour of the draft resolution was registered, which proves that the overwhelming majority of the international community is against the aforementioned U.S Blockade.

We, Cuban educational workers on a mission in this sister Caribbean nation, reaffirm our full support of that resolution and join the strongest condemnation of that illegal blockade which has been expressed by the people of Cuba and international community. We will remain firm in our combat stations and use for the battle only the truth, a powerful “weapon” we have wielded to respond to that hostile U.S policy.

FIRM IN OUR POSTS, SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH THE PARTY, THE PEOPLE AND ITS REVOLUTION, WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE.
