Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica Appears on CVM TV Morning Program to Address the Issue of the Illegal U.S Blockade JAMAICA, October 24, 2011.- Last Tuesday, 24 October, one day before the vote at the UNGA of the draft resolution entitled “Need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba” took place, Cuban Ambassador Yuri Gala Lopez rejected that unjust American policy during a live interview offered to TV morning show CVM at “Sunrise” which is aired daily on CVM TV from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. During his TV appearance for nearly 10 minutes, Ambassador Gala Lopez highlighted that last year 187 member states voted in favour of that resolution, an unquestionable proof that the fight for the lifting of the blockade enjoys the recognition and the support of the vast majority of the international community. In this context, he recalled that the Heads of State/Government and other personalities from many countries have publicly spoken against the blockade, while several Parliaments, including the Chamber of Representatives of Jamaica, have adopted motions in support of Cuba on this issue. Ambassador Yuri Gala López underlined that it was expected that all governments committed to the norms of the multilateral trading system, to the freedom of trade and navigation, and to the rejection of the extraterritorial implementation of a national law, would vote on Tuesday, 25th October, in favour of the aforesaid draft resolution at UNGA, which demands the lifting of the blockade. CVM at “SUNRISE” is considered one of the country’s top morning shows reaching a large TV audience. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba Jamaica)
