Cuban Professors Participate in the Opening of International Adult Learners Week in Windhoek NAMIBIA 1st September 2011.- The Cuban professors, members of the Literacy Committee that implements the program “Yes, I can” in the Khomas Region, Namibia, participated today in the traditional march that officially launched the International Adult Learners Week in Windhoek. The event will take place from the 1st to the 8th of September and this year the theme is “Adult education for peace and prosperity”. The official event that took place in the gardens of the parliament in Windhoek was directed by the national Director of Education for adults and the UNESCO representative in Namibia, along with the participation of other senior officials of the Ministry of Education from different regions of the country. The official speech of the Namibian Minister of Education Honorable Abraham Iyambo, mentioned the importance and the necessity to extend the Cuban literacy campaign “Yes, I can” to other regions of the country. His intentions are to contribute to the increase in literacy rates and fulfill the aims of the millennium. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Namibia)
