Important alternative newspaper publishes statement on Libya by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
JAMAICA, September 7, 2011.- This Wednesday, September 7, “Caricom News Network”, a digital alternative newspaper reaching other CARICOM countries, published the unabridged text of the Statement on Libya recently issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (MINREX).
In the above-named Statement by MINREX, it is mentioned, among other things, the withdrawal of the diplomatic personnel stationed in Libya and it is stated that the Republic of Cuba does not recognize the National Transition Council, or any other provisional authority and will only give its recognition to a government legitimately constituted in that country without foreign intervention and through the free, sovereign and sole will of the sister Libyan people.
Likewise, the Statement demands the immediate cease of the NATO bombardments which continue to claim human lives and reiterates the urgency of permitting the Libyan people to find a peaceful and negotiated solution, without foreign intervention, in the exercise of their inalienable right to independence and self-determination, sovereignty over their natural resources and their territorial integrity.
The text also condemns NATO’s stance and calls on the international community to prevent a new war.(Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
