In Jamaica, Prestigious G.C. Foster College Bestows Recognition Award to the Government of Cuba JAMAICA, September 19, 2011. – Within the framework of the ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the “G.C. Foster” College of Physical Education and Sports, held in Kingston last 16th September, Ambassador Yuri Gala Lopez was conferred an award of recognition to the Cuban Government for its contribution to the birth and development of that prestigious Jamaican educational centre. The guest speaker at the ceremony, attended by more than 200 invitees, was Professor Arnaldo Rivero Fuxá, Sports Teaching Director at INDER who was directly involved in the design and construction processes of the aforesaid College in the late 70’s. Also speaking at the ceremony were Mr. Edward Shakes, Principal of the “G.C. Foster” College, comrade Yuri Gala Lopez, Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica as well as other representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Jamaica, among other guests. In their remarks, the Jamaican representatives were thankful to Cuba for having donated and built the aforementioned College as part of the cooperation the largest island in the Caribbean has been offering Jamaica in several fields, for decades.
