Message of the Gambian-Cuban Friendship Association on the occasion of the death of the Cuban Defense Minister
GAMBIA, September 6, 2011.- On behalf of the Gambian-Cuban Friendship Association, in solidarity, we join the peace loving people and the revolutionary vanguard to mourn our beloved comrade, and to celebrate also his completion of missions as a genuine revolutionary.
Gen Julio Casas contributed to the strengthening of Cuba's defense. He was a founding member of the communist party of Cuba, and he was among those troops who fought against the CIA-backed Cuban exiles at the infamous Bay of Pigs. He also served combat missions in Ethiopia. Cuba joined independence struggles in among other African counties Angola, Algeria and DRC.
We will miss him as a true revolutionary, a selfless one who have contributed positively toward a better world for people to live in as human, brothers and sisters, with equal rights and dignity, he will be remember in the history as a genuine and humble leader, let his legacy and inspiration stay with us for the next generations of peace loving people to come.
