New Speaker of Jamaica’s Parliament meets Cuban Ambassador

JAMAICA, September 16, 2011.-  Last Wednesday, September 14, Cuban Ambassador, Yuri Gala Lopez, paid a courtesy call to Mrs. Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, the new speaker of the House of Representatives of Jamaica. In the meeting, Mrs. Heather Cooke, Clerk of the Jamaican Parliament, was also present.
During the friendly dialogue, Ambassador Gala Lopez took the opportunity to recall the visit to Cuba, paid in June 2010, by former Speaker Delroy Chuck, who met in Havana with comrade Ricardo Alarcon, President of the Cuban National Assembly of the People’s Power (ANPP) sand signed an agreement aimed at fostering the relations between both Parliaments which also included the creation of Friendship Groups on each side.
Speaker Dalrymple-Philibert expressed her willingness to strengthen the friendly ties between both countries’ parliaments and sent greetings to the ANPP President.(Cubaminrex/Embacuba Jamaica)
