President Evo Morales thanks Cuba for its Solidarity

HAVANA, September 20, 2011.- Minutes before boarding his plane, Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma spoke with the press, mentioning his visit with Fidel, who appeared "recovered and strong, as lucid as ever."

He reiterated his veritable joy and satisfaction at being able to converse with Fidel, saying, "As always, I was able to enjoy his reflections and continue learning from his wisdom."

Morales also commented that during his dialogue with Raúl, "Our shared desire to consolidate the excellent, close relations between our peoples and governments was reconfirmed."

He likewise addressed the constitution of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which he considers "another step forward for Latin American integration, with many debates."

The President also called for an immediate end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba, saying, "The entire world is against it and we expect massive support in the United Nations."

He described the imprisonment of the Cuban Five in the United States as "further evidence of U.S. injustice."
