Presidents Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales Arrive in Cuba

HAVANA, September 19, 2011. - Cuban President Raul Castro welcomed the two leaders at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport.

Cuban President Raul Castro welcomed the Presidents of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, and Bolivia, Evo Morales, at the Jose Marti International Airport, it was reported Sunday.

Chavez returned to Cuba for his fourth chemotherapy session, while Morales is fulfilling an official visit, according to Juventud Rebelde paper.

During his stay in Cuba, the Bolivian president will receive the Honoris Causa Degree in Political Sciences from the University of Havana, and develop other activities.

The Bolivian president has visited Cuba several times, and he last did so in June 2009.

Cuba and Bolivia established diplomatic relations on July 19, 1902, but due to U.S. pressures on Bolivia, they were broken on August 21, 1964, and resumed on January 11, 1983. (Cubaminrex/ Prensa Latina)
