Brazilian President Visits Cuba

HAVANA, January 31, 2012.- The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, began this Monday, an official visit to Cuba, during which the bilateral ties will strengthen in different spheres, especially in the economy and commerce.

Rousseff was welcomed at the International Airport Jose Marti by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

Cuba and Brazil established relations at consular level at 1906; diplomatic relations in 1943. On May 13, 1964, these were interrupted  and re-established on June 26, 1986.

At present, our relations with the fifth biggest country in the world are excellent. During the presidency of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil became the second economic partner of Cuba in Latin America. (Cubaminrex)
