Chapter Opens in Pakistan-Cuban relations, Argue Pakistani Newspaper
PAKISTAN, January 31, 2012.- Cuba an Pakistan.
These remarks were part of an interview offered to the newspaper by Cuban Ambassador, Jesús Zenén Buergo Concepción, in which the Diplomat explained bilateral relations took a turning point in the aftermath of the massive earthquake devastated KP province and Azad Kashmir in 2005, when a big Cuban contingent of medical team comprising over 2500 doctors and paramedical staff served the victims. “They were first to come and left last” creating a great goodwill among Pakistanis, said the Ambassador. It was also highlighted by the Observer the scholarship program that benefitted more that 900 Pakistani youngsters, which are now getting free medical education in Cuba.
On the interview the Observer quoted the Cuban Ambassador further asserting that during his meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, he found a great deal of will among them for promoting coordination between both the countries and same spirit is there in Cuba. To cash the goodwill existing among the peoples of both the countries, the publication commented that members of Chambers of Commerce in Pakistan are persuaded to visit Cuba and build on their business interests. Also a Cuban Cigar club will be created in Pakistan while music groups, artists and tourists will be exchanged.
