Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe Closes Tenth Edition of Cuba-Zimbabwe Scientific Meeting

ZIMBABWE, January 31, 2012.- The Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe closed the Tenth Edition of Scientific Session in this country in the Parirenyatwa Hospital of Harare, dedicated to the 159 birthday of our apostle José Julián Martí Pérez and the start of the memorial activities to honour him.

The activity counted with the presence of Cuban Ambassador Enrique Antonio Prieto Lopez, the head of the Cuban medical brigade in this country Dr. Reymundo Martinez Figueredo, the superintendent of the institution, Dr. Mark S. Makarawo, the BsCN Matron, Mrs Doreen Chigwada, as well as with members of the hospital staff and the Bmc National Evaluation Bench.

The event served to reaffirm the compromise with the struggle for the liberation of our Five Heroes imprisoned by the Empire and for the lifting of the US brutal blockade imposed to our country for over five decades.

The opening remarks were made by the superintendent, Dr. Mark S. Makarawo, which had the contributions of BsCN Matron, Mrs. Doreen Chigwada, recognizing and praising the human and selfless work of the Cuban health professionals, the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the peoples of Zimbabwe and Cuba and the high scientific level of the research works to be presented in the scientific event.

In his words, at the end of the morning session, the Cuban Ambassador pointed out the quality of the scientific event and praised the support of the hospital for its successful development as well as the close cooperation of all hospitals with their respective Cuban collaborators which, he said, is an example of the solidarity links between our two peoples. 
The event provided an opportunity for a cultural exchange between the two peoples, Cuba - Zimbabwe, when our medical team gave a touch of Cuban dances with our traditional music and recite José Martí’s simple verses.

The National Science Council Chairman, MSC Junior Peralta Peña's closing remarks acknowledged the preparation and quality of the scientific, thanked all members of the Cuban medical team, national and foreign professionals participating in the scientific event and once again reaffirmed the ties of friendship between brother peoples of Cuba and Zimbabwe and the commitment to continue the struggle for the liberation of our Five Heroes unjustly imprisoned by the Empire and for the lifting of its criminal blockade against our country.
