Cuba to Launch New Book on Ernesto Che Guevara.

CUBA, December 23, 2010.-  The director of the Office of Historical Matters form the Council of State, Eugenio Suarez, said the book “Ernesto Che Guevara preludio de una leyenda” (Ernesto Che Guevara, prelude of a legend) is an indispensable book to get to know him.

The book was launched on December 23 in the ALBA Cultural House to know more about this man, who became an icon for humanity.

Suarez extolled the author, Heberto Norman Acosta, for the way he reflected the key moments of this exceptional personality.

Writer Marion Mencia, who wrote the prologue of the new book of the Political Publishing House of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, noted that it deals with a short period between 1953 and 1954, after Che’s journey through the Americas to participate in the resistance against the democratic government of Jacob Arbenz in Guatemala and to get in touch with the revolutionaries in Mexico.

Mencia also pointed out that the final chapter leaves the reader in tension waiting for more on the epoch he spend in the Sierra Maestra by the side of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Norman explained that the book is so valuable because it tells the story of Ernesto Che Guevara, who was a young rebel on the way to becoming a universal revolutionary, as he turned out to be.

Publisher Norma Castillo Falcato said it was a privilege for her to work with this text, and extolled the graphical testimony included on it, which is not very much known and allows travelling through a key stage on his life.

Norman Acosta has a degree on Hispano-American Literature, and is the author of ‘La palabra empeñada’ (The given word) and ‘Diario de la Guerra II’ (War Diary II). (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
