Che Film Screens in Cuba

CUBA, May 7, 2009. The first part of the film Che, el Argentino, by US filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, will be screened as of Thursday in all the country''s movie theaters and video halls. The second part of this movie, El Guerrillero, will be shown May 14.

Both films were screened for the first time in December 2008, in a special double showing during the 30th New Latin American Film Festival, with the participation of the main character, Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro and seven other members of the cast.

Its producers donated 20 copies of those films to the Cuban Cinema Institute.

The films are 131 minutes long each and portray the life and work of the Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara.

Their screening is part of the celebrations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cuban cinema.(Cubaminrex- PL)
