Suriname Thanks Cuba for Medical Aid

Suriname, May 13, 2010.  Celsius Waterberg, Public Health Minister of Suriname, thanked Cuba for cooperating with his country in this sector, by way of the Medical Brigade and Operation Miracle.
 The Surinamese minister met with Elis Alberto Gonzalez, director of the Central Unit of Cuba’s Medical Cooperation, who is now on a working visit to Suriname. 
  Gonzalez conveyed to the Minister the warm greetings sent by his Cuban counterpart, Jose Ramon Balaguer.
 In addition, he referred to the early days of Cuban medical cooperation in1960, after an earthquake in Chile, and the current presence of Cuban health professionals workers in 78 countries from the five continents.
 Andres Gonzalez, Cuba’s ambassador to Paramaribo, highlighted the expressions of friendliness and gratitude of the Surinamese population for the work carried out by Cuban professionals in that South American nation.
 Also present in the meeting were Kenia Morales, head of the Medical Brigade, and officials from the Surinamese Health Ministry. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Surinam)
