Cuban Foreign Minister tours Cuba-Jamaica Ophthalmology Center in Kinsgton.

JAMAICA, December 20, 2010.- Within the framework of his official visit to Jamaica, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, toured the facilities of the Cuba/Jamaica Ophthalmology Centre, opened in January 2010 and where 15 Cuban health workers are currently working.

Honourable Rudyard Spencer, Jamaican Minister of Health, accompanied Cuban Foreign Minister during his tour around that health institution, located at the National Chest Hospital, an opportunity they took to look at the process of patient’s screening and the technical equipment supplied by Cuba.

After the tour, Minister Spencer and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met with the Jamaican and the Cuban personnel linked to the Operation Miracle Project in this Caribbean nation. Minister Spencer reiterated his government’s gratitude for the cooperation offered by Cuba in this area and recalled that the Center already counts up more than 1 000 surgeries.
