UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Praises Cuban Cooperation with Haiti

MEXICO, December 11, 2010.- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has praised Cuba’s cooperation with Haiti. The UN secretary general met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in Cancun, Mexico, where they both attended the 16th UN Summit on Climate Change.

Ban Ki-moon termed as very significant the work being developed by the Cuban health personnel offering their services in Haiti, a country devastated by an earthquake last January and which is also fighting a cholera outbreak, which has already claimed over 2 000 lives.

During the talks, the top Cuban diplomat and the UN secretary general analyzed several issues of common interest, including the current statues of the international climate change negotiations and relations between Cuba and the United Nations. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
