Cuba, Venezuela Assess New Health Projects.

CUBA, 22 March 2011.- Venezuelan Health Minister Eugenia Sader assessed the new projects of Cuba and Venezuela in this sector as examples of the priority they give to social issues and of their determination to advance towards a better world.

Sader told the Prensa Latina news agency that cooperation in this sphere, linked to research and training areas, has benefited tens of thousands of people and has played a deciding role in the strengthening of the public health system in her country. She gave as examples programs such as Milagro, Barrio Adentro and Jose Gregorio Hernandez, aimed at guaranteeing medical services to people of scant resources, which have also benefited other countries in the region.

The Venezuelan minister made these statements within the framework of the 11th Cuba-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled to wind up on Monday, after the discussion of projects for agreements between the two countries and the Economic Union Program.

Meeting with this purpose were representatives from 23 Cuban and 24 Venezuelan ministries, who checked 283 projects for 2011 in the spheres of agriculture, industry, food, energy, health, education, and science and technology.

The Cuban delegation, made up of 160 members, is headed by Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, while that of Venezuela is headed by Rafael Ramirez, Minister for Energy and Oil. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
