Dominican newspaper highlights Cuba's contribution to save thousands of lives around the world.
CUBA, January 7th, 2011.- “The Cuban Revolution has saved thousands of lives in Latin America and other parts of the world”, highlights the Dominican newspaper “El Nacional”, which believes that after 52 years its triumph, it is necessary to highlight its contributions .
After asserting that it is impossible to hide the contribution of Cuban doctors in the fight against cholera in Haiti, the publication points out that, despite the U.S. blockade, the Mayor of the Antilles has achieved a mortality rate of 4.5 deaths per thousand live births, while only five percent of babies born at low birth weight on the Caribbean Island.
These figures are only comparable with those of countries with high standard of living, stresses the publication, which, under the title “The Revolution and its heroes” - notes that these data corresponds to a poor country. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
