Mexicans thank Cuba for Operation Miracle aid program.

MEXICO, May 9, 2011.- The Zacatecas state legislature thanked Cuba for its medical aid program “Operation Miracle”, which has provided free eyesight restoration surgery for more than 4,800 patients since 2007.

”The Zacateca recognition goes first of all to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro,” stated Avalos when presenting a recognition certificate to Cuban Consul Luis Quirantes.

Avalos also highlighted that about 56,000 ophthalmologic surgeries were performed at Republica de Cuba Hospital in the neighboring city of Saltillo, state of Coahuila, since the opening of that medical center in 2007, meanwhile nearly 2,300 patients with different eye afflictions have been assisted there this year.
