Cuban Ambassador Gilda López Armenteros passes away
HAVANA, December 7, 2011.- Last December 5, 2011, the Cuban diplomat Barbara Gilda López Armenteros, died at 72.
Gilda López Armenteros was born in Havana, on December 5, 1939. She graduated in Social Sciences and Public Law. In 1959, she started her large and fruitful revolutionary trajectory, working at the Interior Ministry.
In 1965, López Armenteros began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which she devoted almost her entire profesional life. During more than four decades of diplomatic career, Gilda López had missions in Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Popular Democratic Republic of Korea, Popular Republic of China, Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka and the Kingdom of Cambodia; in this last nation López Armenteros had recently finished a mission as Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba.
