Dear compatriots of the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade, graduates and 5th and 6th students from the Latin American School of Medicine:

Today, you are writing one of the most beautiful pages in the history of human medicine.

Doing something to save lives, heal the injured and rehabilitate people in Haiti that can work toward and contribute to the well-being of human beings will always be an invaluable honor for any man or woman.

For your families and loved ones, it is a source of joy.

For the Cuban people, it fills us with pride that, having graduated from ELAM, you have voluntarily and enthusiastically joined this colossal task.

The world will closely follow the heroic exploit that you are undertaking, and that pride will reach the hearts of all the peoples of this hemisphere, represented there by their compatriot doctors.

Thank you on behalf of all the Cuban people, your sincere and grateful Caribbean brothers and sisters.

Thank you on behalf of all of those who have fought for these dreams of equality and justice.

I send you my warmest and fraternal greetings.
