Spanish Communists Congratulate Fidel on His Birthday

SPAIN, August  14th, 2010.-
The Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) has sent its congratulations to the Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro, who is celebrating his 84th birthday, reports Prensa Latina.

In a message made public in Madrid, the PCPE congratulated Fidel for continuing to send them his interesting thoughts in reference to Fidel Castro's frequent articles on various topics.

The Spanish Communist expressed that the writings of the historic leader of the Caribbean nation "are always part of our analysis and provide us with political clarity and understanding to evaluate any event."

They were taking advantage of this new birthday to extol the exploits of the Cuban people, particularly their unwavering determination to be free and sovereign, despite more than 50 years of harsh economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States.

The revolution is not only an example to the island, but for all peoples struggling for their liberation and for socialism, highlights the text, signed by Quim Boix i LLuch, Head of International Relations of PCPE.

We know that imperialism will never give up trying to destroy the Cuban Revolution, said the party organization.

They warned that the processes underway in Latin America today are a latent threat to capitalism, its politics of war and its insatiable looting, needed to develop for the benefit of a few, in clear detriment of the majority of humanity and nature.

The capitalist crisis is seeking a way out by further exploitation of the workers, who are working longer hours for less pay, warns the PCPE.

Health services and education, emerging and basic rights, gained throughout our history of struggle, and are now closer to belonging to private companies, while unemployment in Spain exceeds 20 percent of the labor force, it denounced. (Cubaminrex – Granma)

Faced with this situation, the message points out, the response of the Communists must be to fight for equality, social justice and socialism.

For the people consistent with their future, the Cuban Revolution is still the star that shines on us today. To congratulate the Comandante on his birthday is to congratulate all the people of Cuba for their dignity, it highlighted.

It is also moved by the steadfastness of victory and dignity of Fernando, Gerardo, Ramón, René and Antonio, the letter adds, referring to five Cubans imprisoned in U.S. for almost 12 years.
