A 100 Hours with Fidel Presented in Geneva

SWITZERLAND , 29 March, 2007.- The book "100 Hours with Fidel" was presented to a well-attended auditorium at the University of Geneva, Switzerland where scholars, professors, students, friends of the island and the diplomatic personal of the Cuban and Venezuelan embassies were also there to hear the author Ignacio Ramonet.

Ramonet, editor of Le Monde Diplomatique, said his principal motive for conducting the lengthy interviews with Fidel Castro, which led to the book, was to break the wall of silence and slander against the Cuban revolution and its leader.

Also speaking at the book presentation was Raymond Muller, president of the Geneva chapter of the Swiss-Cuba Friendship Society and Olga Salanueva, wife of Cuban Five member Rene Gonzalez.

The Cuban Five have been held for over eight years as political prisoners by the United States for having uncovered terrorist plots hatched on US territory against the island.

Muller and Salanueva both spoke on the case, a judicial farce orchestrated by the US government against the Cubans.

Ramonet answered questions and signed numerous copies of the book. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
