Chávez in Cuba to Visit Fidel

CUBA, August 15th, 2009.- Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez was in Cuba to visit Fidel Castro during the Cuban leader’s August 13 birthday. Chávez presented Fidel with two beautiful paintings of Latin American heroes José Martí and Francisco de Miranda by painter Edgar Álvarez Estrada.

The friendly call became a working visit that included two long meetings with Fidel and Cuban President Raúl Castro. Chávez returned to Venezuela the following day.

The fruitful meetings were in keeping with the fraternal relations between the two countries’ peoples and governments, and the sincere friendship existing between the top leadership of the two countries. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
