Fidel Castro: Humanity Must be Saved Now. CUBA, February 15th, 2011.- “We’re not talking about saving humanity within centuries or millenniums: we have to begin saving it now,” said the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during a meeting with a group of national and foreign intellectuals attending the 20th edition of the International Book Fair in Havana. During the lively conversation with the writers, carried out for over five hours, Fidel added that “the human race has not learned how to survive,” and the response to the dramatic problems the planet is facing up to “can’t be postponed,” the www.cubadebate.cu Web site reported. The increase in food prices, social revolutions in the Arab World, climate change, the education of youngsters and the crisis of international organizations were among the different issues tackled during the meeting, motivated by questions asked and comments made to Fidel by the intellectuals. The Commander in Chief shared with participants some notes especially prepared for the occasion. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
