Gala Pays Homage in Havana to Fidel Castro's 85th Birthday.

CUBA, 12 August 2011.— With the attendance of Cuba´s First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and hundreds of Cubans, artists from nine Latin American countries dedicated a gala to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro on his 85th birthday, at Havana´s Karl Marx Theater.

Also Attending the gala, called a Serenade to FIDELITY were relatives of Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara and of the five Cuban antiterrorists held in US jails, as well as members of foreign delegations and the diplomatic community.

In his opening remarks of the gala, Cachito Vera, member of the Guayasamin family, said that this is a tribute to the brother of humankind, a friend of all, whose name is Fidel, on his 85th birthday.

The Serenade of Fidelity, which was organized by the Guayasamin Foundation, counted on the participation of artists and singers from including Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Cuba. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
