Guayasamín Foundation to Pay Homage to Fidel Castro.

CUBA, 25 May 2011.- The Oswaldo Guayasamín Foundation has called to pay tribute to the Cuban people and government and the top leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro on his 85th birthday on August 13.

altThe call indicates that, with the initiative, the foundation and those who join it will pay tribute to the life of a man, a people, a nation, a Revolution and a battle of ideas which have taken the values of dignity, sovereignty and international solidarity to the highest levels in human history, as loyal heirs of the ethics of Cuban Hero José Martí and all forefathers of Our America, a continent currently struggling for its Second Independence.

It also calls on Iberian-American singer-songwriters, who previously participated in the three former editions of the Todas Las Voces, Todas concert, also designed to celebrate Fidel Castro’s birthday,  and comrades, friends and Cuba solidarity activists to participate at a so called Fidelity Serenade, scheduled for the eve of August 12, 2011.

Upon making the call in Havana, the Ecuadorian painter’s son and Foundation President, Pablo Guayasamín, pointed out that the proposal is a noble and simple effort that Fidel Castro deserves due to his example of solidarity and peace toward all peoples and just causes on planet Earth.

Pablo Guayasamín concluded saying that the homage also represents loyalty to the profound friendship between the painter and Fidel Castro, who shared the ideals of a better world. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
