Cuban Foreign Minister Calls for Reinstatement of Zelaya in Honduras

CUBA, 22 September, 2009. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday at the United Nations stated that “Cuba demands the immediate, full and Unconditional reinstatement of Jose Manuel Zelaya in his post as President of Honduras,” said

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the diplomat added that Cuba urges the de facto regime in the Central American nation to respect and guarantee the physical integrity of Zelaya and to stop all violent actions against the Honduran people.

In a statement released at the venue of the United Nations in New York, Rodriguez also urged the international community to mobilize in support of the Honduran people.

Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla is in New York heading the Cuban delegation to the 64th ordinary period of sessions of the UN General Assembly.
Zelaya, who was forcibly expelled from his country by military forces that carried out a coup d’état last June 28th, returned on Monday to Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital, where he remains in the Brazilian embassy. (Cubaminrex- RHC)
