Brazil Politician: Europe Stance towards Cuba Hypocrite

MEXICO, Mar 16, 2010. -  The European Parliament's condemnation of Cuba for the recent death of a prisoner "is an absurd, hypocritical act," affirmed the Brazilian Workers Party's secretary of Foreign Relations, Valter Pomar. The political leader was part of the over 100 representatives of organizations from 43 countries who approved a resolution in Mexico condemning the European stance, during the 14th International Seminar Parties and a New Society.

Any objective analysis of the problem takes us back to the US hostility against the Cuban people, the PT leader told Prensa Latina.

Life on the island will not normalize until the blockade is over, those prohibitions corroborate a systematic series of aggressions against which Cubans are forced to defend, Pomar said.

"Europeans know it; so hypocritical cynicism is the best term to refer to the stance they assumed in front of the lamentable death of a prisoner linked to internal counterrevolution in Cuba."

They make accusations against the Cuban Revolution, but they do no actually mobilize against the blockade, because they are not interested in a real solution to the problems Cubans face, the Brazilian politician said.

"European conservative governments still have the intention of overthrowing the Cuban revolution in their imperialist interests and those of the US and internal counterrevolution," he affirmed. (Cubaminrex - Prensa Latina)
