Cuba Recalls 50 Years of Unilateral War Declared by the Unites States

CUBA, March 17, 2010.— When a new US media campaign is being carried out against Cuba, this nation recalls today the 50th anniversary of the Executive Order, by US President Dwight D. Eisenhower, which approved the terrorist and covert actions against Cuba.

Called A program of covert action against the Castro Regime, the document was the official green light to undertake any type of illegal operations in the hope of defeating the Cuban government.

Violating all the international norms which rule the relations between governments and peoples, the creation of an organization composed of ex-Bastita followers exiled in the USA was ordered to pave the way for the CIA’s actions.

All the US military and espionage machinery was at the disposal for the plans, with the immediate intention of organizing a paramilitary force which would secretly enter into Cuba to lead and train terrorist groups.

The declassified documents from the US National Security Archive reveal that the order included the implementation of an international media campaign and the creation of internal clandestine groups in Cuba to provide them with intelligence information.

Regarding the Eisenhower command, "our hand should never appear on anything being done", he made the people attending the signing of the Order swear that nobody had heard anything said there.

Afterwards, the then CIA director, Allen W. Dulles, received the president’s order "not to even present the secret reports on Cuba to the Council (National Security)."

To support the propaganda, the creation of a medium wave radio station was ordered to transmit to Cuba from Swan Island, located to the south of Cuba.

The Executive Order equalled a true war declaration against a small country which had not attacked the USA. Eisenhower himself recognized what happened then in his memoirs.

"On March 17, 1960 I ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to begin to organize the training of Cuban exiles, especially in Guatemala." He added: "Another idea was to begin the creation of an anti Castro force inside Cuba. Some believed that we should put the island in quarantine (meaning a blockade), saying that if the economy abruptly declined, the Cubans themselves would defeat Castro."

The results of this direct aggression towards Cuba could be easily seen by a huge increase in the terrorist attacks, the uprising of armed groups in the mountains of the central Cuban provinces who assassinated peasants and participated in the Bay of Pigs battle.

War had been unilaterally declared. Decades afterwards, the US intention of destroying the Cuban Revolution is still present. (Cubaminrex – Granma internacional) PL)
