Friends with Cuba in Several Countries Slam Smear Campaign

CUBA, April 26, 2010. Friends with Cuba in Spain, Rumania, Finland and Ecuador demanded over the weekend the end of the anti-Cuba smear campaign unleashed by the mainstream media in the United State and Europe.

In Madrid, nearly 4,000 people took to the streets to express their support of Cuba and denounce slanders on Cuba posted by the media in Europe and United States.

Federal Coordinator for the Spanish United Left coalition, Cayo Lara, who took part in the demonstration told Prensa Latina that the purpose of the protest was to make the world know that the Cuban people is in control of its future.

The political leader called the government of Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero to promote in the European Union the stop of the so-called Common Position passed in 1996 under the term in office of Jose María Aznar, with the People’s Popular.

In related news, the Finnish Communist Party’s Central Committee sent out a statement to be published on the national media, in which the political organization urged the enemies of the Cuban Revolution to put an end to the media campaign and pressure exerted on Cuba, says a report on the Cuban foreign ministry’s official website (www.cubaminrex.cu).

Meanwhile, in Rumania, a member of the Writer’s Association of Rumania, journalist Corneliu Vlad, issued a statement denounced the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for the material and human loss it has caused to the Cuban people.

Ecuador’s Solidarity-with-Cuba Coordinating Committee in Guayaquil, rejected also rejected the most recent media campaign in a resolution published by Sunday’s edition of local newspaper El Telegrafo, reported Trabajadores weekly. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
