Cuban Academician Says Examining Current Crises Separately an Error

CUBA, March 4, 2009. Renowned Cuban academician Raúl Valdés Vivó said on Wednesday that he considers that examining separately the crises of finance, energy, food, ideology, moral, governability and foreign policy of the United States is a serious mistake.

In the presence of national and foreign delegates attending the 11th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Issues, Valdés Vivó, director of the Higher Institute of the Cuban Communist Party, presented his book Crisis sin salida del capitalismo (Capitalist Crisis: a Dead End).

He said that everybody is alarmed by the US crisis, for being for the global crisis of that system and where it had its epicenter.

After recalling that the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, was the first person to predict the collapse, he stressed that his Reflections are following the crisis step by step.

Also performing important analyses, he added, are Hugo Chávez, from Venezuela, Evo Morales (Bolivia), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Cristina Fernández (Argentine) and Luíz Ignácio Lula da Silva (Brazil, and the leaders of Russia or China, all of them with the desire of protecting their people.

Valdés Vivó went into great detail about the major setbacks of the US foreign policy, aimed at destroying the independence and integrity of various nations, and denounced the seizure of a part of Cuban territory: the US Naval Base in Guantánamo.

He stated that, while Cuba definitively put an end to its isolation with its entry in the Group of Rio, the foreign policy of the invariable enemy of the peoples who love liberty, peace, and international cooperation, and also its own people, is increasingly questioned.

Finally, the Cuban intellectual said: "To defeat that policy and its three instruments of oppression and plundering -weapons, lies, and dollars- constitutes the best expression of solidarity toward the US people." (Cubaminrex - ACN)
