Cuba to Host Intl Health Forum

CUBA, November 10, 2009. More than 800 specialists from around the world are expected to attend the World Health Innovation Forum in Havana on November 16-19 to broaden global understanding on the issue.

In remarks to Prensa Latina, Executive Director of the Forum Stephen Mathlin said participants are expected to discuss particularly how to make innovations reach poorer countries.

Cuba has many interesting things to say regarding its health experiences and achievements, as it has shown the way to do many things in health research and innovation, noted Mathlin.

It has also shown that when a government has political will to develop health system, there is no financial barrier to limit it, he added.

The Forum 2009 is expected to be attended by Health ministers from countries including China and Kenya, as well as academicians and representatives of international entities including the World health Organization and the World Bank, members of the international pharmaceutical industry and experts from Latin American countries and from Canada, the United States and India, Mathlin revealed.

Innovation in health covers the whole process from generation of new ideas to their transformation into something useful and applicable.(Cubaminrex- PL)
