Photos of the First Days of the Cuban Revolution Exhibited in Bayamo.
CUBA, January 6th, 2011.- Revelaciones, a phot exhibition featuring more than 30 photos of Fidel Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, Ernesto Che Guevara and the first days of the Cuban Revolution opened at the Oswaldo Guayasamín Academy of Arts, in the city of Bayamo, Granma.
The pictures were taken by Cuban photographer Ibrahim Jacas (1930) and reflect important historical moments such as the entrance of the Rebel Army led by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to the city of Bayamo on January 2, 1959.
The exhibit includes photos of Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara when they visited Bayamo in March 1959; as well as images of the trials of assassins of the Batista’s dictatorship and pictures of the exhumation of the remains of revolutionary combatant Abigail González, murdered by them.
Ibrahim Jacas began his career as a photographer in 1948. He had the privilege of taking pictures of several of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution.
Taking part in the inauguration ceremony of Revelaciones was Víctor Montero, a renowned teacher who introduced Fidel Castro before the speech he gave in Bayamo on January 2, 1959.
