Raul Paz Takes Cuba to the World
CUBA, April 7, 2011.- In the middle of rehearsals, performances and projects as International Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund, "Open Doors to Cuba" is a challenge for Cuban singer- songwriter Raul Paz.
Paz said to Prensa Latina that in the middle of a tour of different continents, he is organizing a big show to present Cuban artistic expressions in Europe.
"Twenty-four Hours of Cuba in France" is the name of the show, in which will be exhibited Cuban films, theatre, paintings and dances while playing the music of young Cuban musicians.
A concert in Toulouse city will be the closing ceremony of a day dedicated to Cuban culture.
Singers from Brazil, Mexico, France and Spain, including Diego el Cigala, will join this celebration.
"We want to reveal the Cuba of today, what we are and what we dream of, far from any cliché", he said.
One of the goals of his initiative is to show the most recent work of Cuban artists. He is backed by other Cuban artists such as David Torrens, Kelvis Ochoa and X Alfonso.
"There is a movement that we call Havanization (the name of his 8th CD) which gathers singers, painters, musicians, all emotionally attached to our roots and with the aim of showing ourselves to the world", he said.
His tour includes countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe and North Africa.
Paris, a city that captivated Paz, will be the scene of the last presentation of his tour in late 2011.
In the middle of the tour, Paz is composing music for his next CD and the soundtrack of two movies. (Cubaminrex-Prensa Latina)
