Festival of Habanos Cigars Expects a Large Worldwide Attendance

CUBA, January 19th, 2001.-The organizers of the 8th Festival of Habano hand rolled cigars expect at least the presence of a thousand people from 80 countries to confirm the impact of Cuban cigars in the world.

An official statement added that this smoker’s event will be held February 21 to 25 at the Palace of Conventions in the capital and will close in the PABEXPO fairground.

Tribute on this occasion is being paid to the Montecristo, Partagas and H. Upmann brands, much claimed by smokers around the world, and they will surprise with the presentation of new formats.

The note states that, as on other occasions, participants can try the latest products by the Habanos SA corporation, participate in tastings, talks, a Trade Fair, an International Seminar and visit the plantations of the western province of Pinar del Rio.

A tour of factories producing cigars is also scheduled, including Partagas, located behind the Capitol in Havana and one of the most significant of the Cuban tobacco industry.

In turn, this year will mark the tenth anniversary of the International Habano Sommelier Competition, which tests the knowledge and skills of the presenters of wines and cigars, and one of the most popular meetings will be the lecture on how to roll a cigar.

The statement anticipates that the welcome evening will have strong cultural ties, especially with the musician and composer Leo Brouwer, who won in the Latin Grammy Award 2010, who will present foreign guests not yet identified.

The night of the Montecristo brand is scheduled for the conclusion of the Festival, with the traditional auction of humidors and the Habano Award of the Year. As always the revenue is donated to the Cuban health system, concludes the note. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
