Cuba to Export Veterinarian Services
CUBA, January 24th, 2011.- Head of the Cuban Veterinary Medicine Institute, Emerio Serrano, spoke about the possibility that Cuba has to export services in this sector when announcing the 7th International Veterinary Congress to be held in Havana from April 11th through the 14th.
Serrano said that over 100 veterinarians from different countries have studied in Cuba; a dozen of whom later became Head of Vet Services in their homelands, which is proof of the excellence of the education they received in Cuba.
Serrano also mentioned that the current president of the Latin American Veterinarian College was one of those students. Cuban vets have worked abroad since 1972, and currently over one hundred are providing their services in Venezuela, Eritrea and Djibouti.
President of the Veterinarian Scientific Council Beatriz Amaro announced that during the International Congress they will have a commercial fair to exhibit several offers of products and services they can export.
Cuba will show its strengths in the fields of disease control, diagnosis and vet clinics, animal health and food innocuousness.
They will also show the latest drugs and vaccines produced by LABIOFAM, the leading Cuban enterprise in that field, and the Institute for Genetics and Biotechnology Engineering, whose products have allowed Cuba to eradicate around 75 percent of the diseases that affect animals throughout the Americas.
