Cuban Delegation to Youth Festival Arrived in South Africa.

SOUTH AFRICA, December 11, 2010.- More than 250 delegates to the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students beginning December 13 arrived in Petroria from Cuba on Friday.

The delegation is made up of exactly 265 members from Cuba and others from 27 countries who are studying in the island. The group includes sportspeople, artists, combatants who were involved in international missions and relatives of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the United States since 1998.

The trip took 30 hours with stops in Panama and Argentina, however delegates kept their spirit high, said ACN correspondant.

To Doctor Annia Ladron, who participated in the World Youth Festival nine years ago in Algeria, said this year’s Festival will be another opportunity to show the solidarity and unity between all nations.

Dr. Ladron said she will speak about Cuba’s public health and experiences in international collaboration programs in the sector.

Under the slogan "Youth Unite! Forward For Lasting Peace,"organizers of the 14th Festival expect the participation of some 15,000 representatives of progressive youth movements from all over the world. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
