CUBA, Mar 25, 2010. -  Children and adults should be favored with the advantages of the percutaneous surgery, which is a minimally invasive procedure that reduces the time people need to stay in hospitals and the costs of the operation.

Argentinean experts debated about this subject, betting for the introduction of the technique in children, during one of the sessions of the fourth Ibero American Congress of Pediatric Surgery that is taking place in Havana, Cuba.

This type of surgery also reduces the risk of infections and mortality, the specialists asserted in a masterly lecture.

The drainage of splenic abscess, neonatal cholestasis, transvesicular cholangiography and retrograde percutaneous gastrostomy in cases of caustic strictures, as well as catheterization are among the surgeries that can be carried out.
