Cuban Vice President Insists that Economic Growth Will Come Only Through Hard Work.
CUBA, January 11th, 2011.- Cuban Vice President Ramiro Valdes insisted that the only way to overcome the country’s economic hardships is through hard work.
During a visit to the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, Ramiro Valdes visited the densely-populated community of San Pedrito and talked to the people about their living and working conditions.
Ramiro asked local residents about improvements in the water services, this after a first stage of the province’s new water system was recently completed.
Ramiro Valdes pointed to new measure aimed at solving the difficult housing situation.
In that regard he referred to the sale of construction materials to the population and new construction plans and projects.
During a meeting with local government leaders and executives of state-run enterprises from the five eastern Cuban provinces plus Camagüey, Ramiro Valdes proposed a study into the most critical housing cases that includes solutions in the short and mid terms.
During his visit to Santiago de Cuba, Ramiro Valdes, accompanied by other ministers and political leaders, supervised the development of construction works on the water system.
The project is already on its second phase and 480,000 people already benefit from the new aqueduct in the areas were works have been completed.
Ramiro Valdes also reviewed the progress of works for the upcoming installation of a fiber optic cable that is expected to be brought from Venezuela into the island by midyear. (Cubaminrx-RHC)
