Cuban Youth to Celebrate Socialist Proclamation.

CUBA, February 25th, 2011.- Young Cubans are getting ready to take part in a military review and parade to commemorate the declaration of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution and the 50th anniversary of the Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs) Victory
As Cuban President Raul Castro said in the closing of the National Assembly sessions in December, “This day will be dedicated to the youth, who have never let down the Revolution and are the guarantee of its continuity.”
From early 2011, the Young Communist League of Cuba (UJC) has been carrying out a program of activities to celebrate this and other important dates, including the 50th anniversary of the Jose Marti Pioneers Organization; the Literacy Campaign; and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of Cuba (INDER).
In statements to the press, the member of the National Bureau of the UJC, Osnay Colina, said that the April 6 military review and parade will be the youth’s salute to the Sixth Conference of the Cuban Communist Party that begins that same day and to express their gratitude for everything the Cuban people have accomplished over more than half a century.
In addition, it will be an opportunity to pay tribute to the men and women who dedicated their lives to the Cuban revolutionary process, especially those who fought in Playa Giron; to condemn the interference measures of imperialism; and to express the youth’s commitment with socialism and their support of the Revolution, said Colina.
