Centro
Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau
VII SALON Y COLOQUIO INTERNACIONAL DE ARTE DIGITAL
Seventh International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium
International Call
The Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau, with the support of
the Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana (the City Historian), HIVOS,
ENET / ETECSA Cubasí Portal, and the collaboration of the Union
of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEAC), the Cuban Institute of Art and
Cinema (ICAIC), and the Consejo Nacional de Artes Plásticas,
announces the VII Salón y Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital
(Seventh International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium) with the
purpose of promoting artistic and cultural values created with new
technologies.
The Art Exhibit, which will open on June 21, 2005, will once again
show the current work in this field and favor exchange and reflection
among creators and specialists engaged in these new forms of expression.
The event covers two areas; the National Art Exhibit, of a competitive
nature, and a non-competitive International Art Exhibit, where works
by artists from other countries will be shown.
INTERNATIONAL
DIGITAL ART EXHIBIT
The Centro Pablo calls on artists from foreign countries to participate
in the International Digital Art Exhibit that will be held at the
same time of the National Digital Art Exhibit. Various artistic views
within this expressive modality will be brought together, thus facilitating
debate and considerations on their languages and poetics.
This year the International Digital Art Exhibit will accept proposals
for the category of Printing Works. The art pieces must have been
created using digital tools and reproduced by any printing machine.
Each participant may send up to three works of any size. The works
initial inscription will be accomplished by filling and sending the
form appearing in the following Internet address: www.centropablo.cult.cu/form/formularioviisalon.htm
The printing works must arrive to the Centro Cultural Pablo de la
Torriente Brau before April 15, 2005. The postal address to send the
proposals is:
VII Salón Internacional de Arte Digital
Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau
Calle de la Muralla No. 63 entre Oficios e Inquisidor,
La Habana Vieja, Ciudad de La Habana, Cuba
Besides the printing works, the participant must include in this postal
sending the high resolution image of the art work in CD or zip disk
(only PC format!), and a file text with the same information previously
sent through the Internet form.
These works may be found at the Sixth Digital Art Exhibit Portal,
developed by the Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau and the
ENET / ETECSA Cubasí Portal.
The admission jury will work on the curatorship of the submitted art
works that will be included in the Jury Selection Exhibit and the
Participants Exhibit to be shown through June and July in cultural
centers of La Habana Vieja.
The works will be shown also in the web site of the VII Salón
Internacional de Arte Digital (Seventh International Digital Art Exhibit),
that will be developed by the Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente
Brau and the Cubasí Portal of ENET / ETECSA by June, 2005.
The Art Exhibit cannot return the art works submitted for consideration
and requests participating artists to donate them for future non-profit
exhibits and showings.
The International Exhibit will also include a video section to be
shown in Centro Pablo, the Office of the City Historian, and ICAIC.
These shows, that will include programs submitted by cultural centers
and art schools of several countries, will be announced by May, 2005.
Next international digital art edition, in June, 2006, will include
the category of Time-based Works.
INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM
ART AND/IN BODY
An International Colloquium will be held on June 22-23 to present
the Memoria magazine with information about the VI Salón de
Arte Digital (Sixth International Digital Art Exhibit) and discuss
the winning works of the National Exhibit and the themes of the lectures
delivered under the title Art and/in body.
Outstanding artists that have been winners or jurors in our recent
International Digital Art Exhibits will be in charge of these conferences.
The request to participate in this International Colloqium should
be sent to Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau by filling the
form that can be found in the following Internet address: www.centropablo.cult.cu/form/formulariocoloquio.htm
before May 15, 2005
A fee of 50 pesos cubanos convertibles (CUC) is required from all
participants in the International Colloquium. Participants from abroad
will pay their inscription fee to the International Digital Art Colloquium
at the Centro before the beginning of the event.
The inscription will allow participants to receive all the printed
information about the VII Salón y Coloquio Internacional de
Arte Digital ((Seventh International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloqium),
including the poster created by the VI Salon winners, and to attend
the debate sessions and exhibits openings during the first week of
this cultural event.
