CUBA , November 8, 2007.- Experts from seven countries are participating at the Fourth International Meeting on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) underway in this capital since Thursday. Representatives from Cuba , Canada , Mexico , Panama , Venezuela , the Dominican Republic and Uruguay are attending the event which aims at exchanging experiences to counteract the negative effect of the standardized western cultural patterns spread worldwide through internet. According to the agenda, Cuban vice-Minister of Information and Communication, Boris Moreno, opened the forum with a lecture on the equitable and sustainable development of the Information Society. For his part, Cuban specialist Dr. Francisco Fernandez Nodarse, will offer detailed information on the Cuban Sciences Network which was recently awarded by the World Summit on the Information Society in Italy for being among the 40 best science websites around the world. The Grand Jury of the contest assessed 650 sites from 160 nations, which shows the great level and international acceptance of the Cuban portal. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
