Battle of Ideas Shapes a Cultured Generation
CUBA, December 7, 2006.- The Battle of Ideas, begun seven years ago when Cuba was fighting for Elian Gonzalez return from the United States, currently is helping create a new, more prepared Cuban generation to assure the future of the revolution.
Cuba currently is developing 200 social programs, confirmed a member of Cuba’s Communist Party Mercedes Lopez, when summarizing the issue for the seventh anniversary of the Battle of Ideas.
That is what Cuba calls a group of projects in almost all social and economic areas of the country to improve the living conditions of people.
During the celebration, Lopez recalled a political thought of President Fidel Castro, who said: "world problems won t be solved with war, but with ideas; those will decide."
She pointed out the presence of 620,000 Cubans in university classrooms in 169 municipalities of the country, the existence of two educational TV channels and the rise of book publications.
The Battle of Ideas program originated seven years ago, when Cuba was fighting for Elian Gonzalez return after being held kidnapped by terrorist and anti Cuban Miami mafia.
